The traditional bridal gowns and wedding dresses have remained as white which many people associate with virtue. It follows a deep seated tradition whose idea started in Britain, a country that has held on to their traditions and legends and this is why the traditional white wedding dress started there and was mainly worn by the English Monarchy.

You would be surprised to learn that the first high profile white wedding was that between Queen Victoria and Albert in 1840. Many years later, the white bridal gown became the preferred choice for many and it was at first taken as a symbol or wealth rather than that of virtue.

In the new era of bridal gowns, some have chosen to wear many other colors, but those who are still holding fast to the white color tradition are also being persuaded to deviate a little by wearing ivory. There are the liberal minds that would easily wear red velvet or even black as the wedding gown landscape continues to widen.

Even so, the majority of the brides still go for the conventional white colored gowns or at least the pale ecru in order to satisfy the virtues of color white.
